John Summers
Manager
John is a proud native of Gilbert, South Carolina, a small town rooted in traditional Southern values. A graduate of Gilbert High School, he went on to attend the University of South Carolina and later earned a degree in Applied Science and Mortuary Science from Piedmont Technical College.
John began his career in funeral service with Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, where he continued to work throughout his education and beyond. Under the mentorship of Landis D. Price, he developed a deep understanding of the funeral profession—learning not only the technical skills required of a funeral director and embalmer but also the importance of compassion, professionalism, and the higher purpose of serving families during their most difficult times.
In addition to his professional work, John is an active member of several heritage organizations, including the Sons of the American Revolution, member of the Ancestors of the Mexican War, honoring his great-great-great-grandfather William Summers, who served and gave his life at Pueblo Nuevo, Mexico. and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. His great-grandfather Clarence Taylor was a Doughboy in WW I and served in France. Many great uncles and family members served, and he respects and appreciates that sacrifice, that is one of the reasons he chose his career. Loss is not something strange to him he honors his sister, Stephanie A. Summers he lost at a young age as with many of his family members including his "Diddy", Johnny W. Summers a few years ago. Much credit goes to his Mama, Becky T., and his "Step-Pappy," Jason E. Comalander, for their guidance. " If God be with you, no man can stand against you."
