Ione Lockart, 87 formerly of Kamiah, Idaho

Born Ellen Ione Wixom to Glenn and Violet Wixom on July 20, 1929, in Nampa, Ione went to her eternal home on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017.

Ione spent her early years in southern Idaho. She graduated from Donnelly-McCall High School in 1947. She married William "Bill" Lockart on June 29, 1947. They resided in McCall, then moved to Kamiah and had a family of five children.

Ione was a founder of Valley Promenaders Square Dance Club, a babysitter, 4-H leader and was involved in Job's Daughters, Kamiah Community Presbyterian Church and senior citizens Meals on Wheels.

She worked for the WIC program for several years, then the Kamiah school district.

Ione's hobbies were knitting, crocheting, cooking, gardening, canning and reading.

She was well known as the "ticket lady" at all of Kamiah's sporting events and was inducted into the school's hall of fame.

Ione was married to Bill for 60 years. She is survived by her sister, Shirley, of Meridian; children Bob of Atlanta, Jon (Irene), Rick (Gladys) of Kamiah, Susan (Kelly) and Peggy in Lewiston; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At her request, she was cremated. Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday March 25, 2017 at Kamiah Community Presbyterian Church, Kamiah, Idaho. Reverend Luann Howard will officiate. A dinner will follow. Inurnment will be at Kamiah City Cemetery. Donations may be made to Kamiah Community Presbyterian Church or Kamiah Senior Citizens Center.
