Obituary

Gale Marie “Shearer” Sego, 95, was gently called home on August 12, 2026, in Stites, Idaho, surrounded by the close embrace and care of her family. She was born on October 5, 1930, to Elda & Edith (Briscoe) Shearer in Nezperce, Idaho, a place whose warmth and natural beauty shaped her early years and forever remained close to her heart.

Gale exhibited a resilience and grace that touched all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a steadfast presence in her community and a pillar of strength to those she loved. Her life’s journey was marked by both deep joys and sorrows, each one met with her signature, kindness and quiet dignity.

Gale’s family was the cornerstone of her world. She is mourned with heavy hearts by her surviving children: Dallas and Glen, her devoted sons; Gwen and Debbie, her loving daughters; and Dave, her caring stepson. Her legacy also lives on in her 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, each of whom Gale cherished deeply and whose lives have been shaped by her enduring love and gentle encouragement.

Preceding Gale in death was her beloved husband, Doug, her sons Gordon and Dennis, her father Elda Shearer, her mother Edith Shearer, her brothers John and William, and her dear granddaughter Della. Though their absence is keenly felt, the stories and love they shared with Gale remain a part of her legacy, woven into the fabric of many cherished memories.

Above all, Gale’s life was one of devotion and quiet generosity. She found fulfillment and purpose in nurturing her family and was always ready with a kind word, a warm hug, or a patient ear. The history of her days is written in the laughter she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, in the advice she offered her children, and in numerous small but significant ways she made the lives of others richer and more meaningful.

Family and friends are invited to honor Gale’s remarkable life at a graveside service, which will be held at Harpster Cemetery, 143 Wall Creek Road, Harpster, Idaho, on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

While Gale’s presence will be deeply missed, her example of unconditional love, resilience, and steadfastness will live on in those she leaves behind. Her story continues in the hearts and lives of the family she so deeply cherished.
