Cheryl Ann Mendenhall (Thrush), beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Kamiah, Idaho, on July 31, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on June 5, 1954, in Clarkston, Washington, to Max and Delores (Mendenhall) Thrush. Cheryl radiated warmth, kindness, and compassion throughout her life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

From her earliest days in Clarkston, Cheryl's gentle nature and boundless generosity drew people to her. Family and relationships were the cornerstone of Cheryl's world, and her love enveloped everyone close to her. She devoted herself to her family with unyielding loyalty and affection, bringing together many lives through grace, patience, and selflessness.

Cheryl is deeply mourned by her devoted husband, Vardean Mendenhall, who faithfully stood by her side. Together, they built a vibrant and loving family whose bond reflects Cheryl's own unwavering devotion. She was the cherished mother of Jessica, Aimee, Tyrone, and Megan, always offering a listening ear, steady encouragement, and unconditional love. Cheryl also embraced her stepchildren-Jill, Jamie, Marjorie, Erin, Tara, Breanna, and David-with open arms and a generous heart. Each child and stepchild carry forward the lessons in kindness, perseverance, and love that Cheryl imparted.

Her nurturing spirit extended further, as she was a proud grandmother to 29 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her home was a haven for laughter, storytelling, and generations coming as one. Her siblings-Janet, April, Virginia, Max Jr., and Perry-remember her as a steadfast sister, always willing to help, to listen, and to uplift in times of joy or distress.

Though Cheryl's passing leaves a tender space in the hearts of all who loved her, she is now reunited with her beloved parents, Max and Delores Thrush, and her dear son, Levi, whose memories she cherished and whose love she carried always.

Cheryl's legacy will live on in the lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the lives she shaped. Her presence-gentle yet powerful-remains in every shared story, every embraced tradition, and every act of kindness inspired by her example.

Cheryl will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Cheryl will be laid to rest in Willow Ridge Cemetery.
