Aletha Brown

January 21, 1923 — May 6, 2019

Our beloved mother, Aletha Ann Brown passed away May 6, 2019 in Grangeville, Idaho at the age of 96 from complications of pneumonia. She was born to Walter Doyle Bateman and Clara Belle Armitage on January 21, 1923 in Southwick, Idaho, where she spent her youth until her late teens. She married Don Rogers October 28, 1940 in Weippe, Idaho. Don and Aletha had four daughters, Donna Maureen, Ruth Ann, Julia Mae and Shirley Jean. They lived in many surrounding towns while raising the girls until settling in Kamiah. Don passed away in 1957. Aletha later married Clifford Brown who passed away in 1972. She continued her life with the girls in Kamiah. She was very talented at sewing, crafts and above all wood working. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and teaching them her tricks of the trade. There are countless pieces of furniture she made scattered throughout the local area. Aletha was very bright, even up to the age of 96. She was honest, giving, thoughtful and hard-working. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, Don, her husband, Cliff, her sisters, Edith Wells and Dorothy King. She is survived by her sister Juanita Reece of Lewiston, Idaho, daughters Donna (Larry) Knight of Kamiah, Ruth Anderson of Milton, WA, Julia Ayers of Cahone, CO and Shirley Weddle of Kamiah, 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Trenary Funeral Home in Kooskia, Idaho on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 P.M. at Pine Cemetery near Southwick.
